Where to start

Buying your first home or upgrading your present home is a big decision. There are a few things to take into consideration before you ever start looking at homes. You may want to ask yourself the following questions.

Do I have a steady source of income?
Have I been in the same type of work for at least 2 years?
Do I have money saved for a down payment?
How much can I afford?
Have I been pre-approved by a lender?
How much space do I need?
What schools are near?
How far is the commute to work?
Do I need a pool?

Develop a list of requirements of what your new home MUST have and a wishlist for things you would like your home to have. Be prepared before you start looking and you will spend more time in your new home instead of looking at homes that don't meet your needs.
